4.80/4.00-8 Tire Recommendation for Swisher Trail Cutter
Published 08/13/2014 >
Question:
I have a set of 4.80/4.00-8 tires with tubes mounted on 3inch wide wheels. The rims/wheels look like those from a wheelbarrow with the hole for the axle in the middle that is held in place on the axle by a cotter pin, The tires are for a trail cutter, which is a small pull-behind bush hog with its own motor Swisher brand. I need new tires. I see you sell a Kenda K371 Bias Trailer Tire - 4.80/4.00-8 - Load Range C tire, link below. I see from the QandAs that it is designed to fit a 3 3/4inch wheel/rim. Can I mount this tubeless tire on these rims, even though they are only 3? I know it may effect the wear of the tires if the rim is not the proper size, but these tires are only used off-road, cutting trails and brush in woods and fields. I would like to use the c-rates tires because they may hold up better than others when running over brush that often includes briars and thorns. Please let me know if these will work. Thanks in advance.

The Kenda K371 Bias Trailer Tire # AM10004 should work fine for you since it is the same tire size as what you have on your brush hog. The slight rim width difference shouldn't matter for your application.
We do not carry tubes though, so you will have to find them somewhere else or reuse your current one if it is still good.
