Battery Amperage Capacity with Titan Gel Cell Breakaway Kit # T4822100

Updated 08/13/2014 | Published 08/11/2014

Question:

From a liability standpoint, how do qty2 5Ah 12V batteries in parallel meet or exceed the 12Ah requirementinch for the Brake-rite system? By my math this is only 10Ah. If this system were inspected I am concerned about at very least non-compliance, or at worst liability in the event something went wrong

The Titan Gel Cell Breakaway Kit # T4822100 that you referenced does indeed include two gel batteries each rated for 5 amp-hours while the owner's manual for the Titan Brake-Rite EHB actuator # T4813100 does state that 12-amp-hours of battery capacity are required for proper operation.

I do understand why you ask your question since the information presented certainly appears to be contradictory.

My contact at Titan confirmed that their Brake-Rite EHB actuator # T4813102 will operate properly with 10-amp-hours of battery capacity. The 12Ah that you read was an error. Great job catching this.
