Should Ring Terminals be Used to Attach Wires to the Back of a 7-Way Trailer Connector
Updated 08/13/2014 | Published 08/11/2014 >
Question:
I purchased the above 7 way trailer connector from you and it arrived Saturday, but without any directions. I printed the wiring picture from your website and watched your video. Seems pretty straight forward. Do you recommend that I use ring terminals on the wires to the connector? If so should I get the heat shrink ones? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
Small ring terminals domake the installation of the wires to the back of the 7-Way # PK12706 easier and it will lessen the chance of stray strands touching the wrong terminal and causing a short.
The heat shrink type of ring terminals such as # DW05738-1 would be best for keeping out moisture which will lessen the chance of corrosion causing a short.
