Thanks for letting us help Donald. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C89FR. When a wiring harness like this isn't working, the first things I'd suspect are something going on with the 12V power supply to the converter box or a bad ground connection. The # C89FR uses a powered converter module to operate the trailer lights. If that module isn't receiving power or doesn't have a good ground, it won't be able to send the proper lighting signals from your Ford Edge to the trailer.
I'd start by checking all of the wiring connections to make sure everything is plugged in securely. You'll also want to check the inline fuse on the harness's 12V power wire to make sure it hasn't blown. It wouldn't hurt to check your vehicle's fuse box as well. Depending on the model year, some Ford Edge models have dedicated trailer lighting fuses. For example, fuse #78 has been associated with trailer lighting on certain model years. You would want to confirm this in your owner's manual to determine the specific fuse location.
The other thing I'd check is the white ground wire coming from the converter box. The ring terminal needs to be securely attached to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle. Even a little paint or corrosion at that connection can cause problems. You can check the ground with a multimeter or use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to help troubleshoot the wiring.
If everything checks out, I'd also recommend testing the 4-way connector on the vehicle without the trailer connected. This can be done with a tester like # I26.
What year is your Ford Edge, and have you been able to test the harness with another trailer or check the 4 way connector directly?
