How to Change Progressive Dynamics 9300 to AGM from Lead Acid Setting

Updated 10/28/2026 | Published 10/27/2026

Question:

Hello, I purchased the 9300 inverter/charger from you and have a question. PD79RR When I bought the unit I hadf lead acid batteries installed in my trailer. I recently exchanged ther Lead acid batteries with 2 new AGM batteries and was concerned if I need to do anything different with the settings on the wizard pendant? It discribes in their QR code that the light should be white instead of green, mine just stays green. Am Im doing something wrong or is this okay? Thanks

Hey Ernst, the Progressive Dynamics 9300 Series RV Converter Charger # PD79RR that you have now is compatible with AGM batteries but it does need a setting change like you noted and it is related to the color you mentioned. Green means lead acid and you need white for AGM. Here is how to change the setting:

The adjustment is made on the converter itself, not through the Charge Wizard pendant.
1. Locate the small mode-selection button on the side of the converter, near the pendant connection.
2. Press and hold the button for at least 3 seconds until the indicator light changes color.
3. Continue holding the button as it cycles through the available battery types.
4. Release the button when the indicator turns white, indicating AGM mode.
5. The converter will save that setting, including after power is disconnected.

What batteries do you have?

Hi Jamison, That worked, thank you very much. The color did not change on pendant but maybe that doesn’t matter so long as the inverter/charger shows the correct color. Is there a recommended setting when in storage and plugged into a house current? I purchased the batteries while we were out dry camping last week. One of my deep cycle lead acid batteries was starting to off gas with a sulfur smell and sizzling a bit. The batteries were 11 years old so I replaced both of them at a ORielly auto parts store where we were camping. I recently purchased the 1994 25’ airstream and did a fair amount of remodeling and restoration. Batteries were on my list, just came sooner than I had planned. The battery type I purchased was: 27M group type super start marine AGM with top posts. Appreciate all your help, Ernst

@Ernst Glad you got it figured out! You can just leave it in AGM mode when in storage. Yeah I'd say it was time for new batteries!

I understand the PD9300 senses the type of battery connected to it and adjusts itself accordingly

@Irvin It actually does not do that. Some brands have auto detect features but Progressive Dynamics does not believe in that as it can in theory fail.

Ernst I have a 2000 28 Excella...I am the original owner. As for the 9300...I just leave the trailer plugged in at the house & let the charger do what it does best for my two alAGMs.
