Ball Height Difference - Curt and Gen-Y Offset Gooseneck Hitches for 2026 Ram 2500 with OEM Pucks

Updated 10/26/2026 | Published 10/24/2026

Question:

What is the “ball height” difference between the CURT MULTI-FIT OEM PUCK SYSTEM GOOSENECK BALL WITH 4 OFFSET 60663 and the GEN-Y GoosePuck GEN 2?

Good morning Ron.

The Curt Offset Gooseneck Ball # C68ZV adds approximately 1" of height compared to a standard factory gooseneck ball, while the Gen-Y GoosePuck Gen 2 # GY83XR sits closer to the factory ball height without any significant additional rise.

The Curt offers 4" of rearward offset, while the Gen-Y provides 5". Neither is designed as a high-rise gooseneck ball, and I wouldn't recommend adding an additional riser to either setup. Both are confirmed to fit your 2026 Ram 2500 (short bed and long bed) with the OEM puck system.

We do have taller gooseneck ball options if you're looking for more height rather than rearward offset.

Are you primarily trying to raise the front of your trailer for better leveling, or gain additional clearance between the trailer and truck cab?

Andrew, I am currently using the Curt C68ZV with a Curt Helux Goiseneck pin box. My 2026 Alliance Avenue 25RL runs a bit high in front with this setup. The pin box is mounted as high as it will go, so I cannot correct the issue by adjusting it. I was hoping that I would lose a couple of inches of hitch height by switching to the Gen Y offset ball.

@RonH Thanks for clarifying! We were originally told the Curt offset ball wouldn't add much height, but we've since confirmed it sits approximately 7" above the bed floor. If you don't need the offset, the Curt Pop-In Ball # C60601 sits around 4" high, potentially lowering your trailer's front end by about 2-1/2" - 3". Just be sure you'll still have adequate bed rail and cab clearance.
