Thanks for letting us help Tami. Yes, you can install a roof rack like the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack - Aero Crossbars # MAL84AR on your 2025 Ford Explorer. This kit includes everything needed to mount the crossbars directly to the factory raised side rails on your vehicle. There is one important consideration with your Explorer's panoramic moonroof, though. According to Ford's owner's manual, Explorers equipped with the panoramic glass roof have a maximum roof load capacity of 75 lbs. That's significantly lower than the 165 lb capacity of the # MAL84AR itself. This would include the weight of the crossbars, any roof mounted accessories, and the cargo you're carrying. The weight of the # MAL84AR system by itself is 12 lbs which leaves you 63 lbs for accessories and cargo. Depending on what you're planning to transport, that may or may not be an issue. I've included a screenshot from the 2025 Ford Explorer owner's manual below showing this weight restriction.

Another thing worth mentioning is that roof rack manufacturers generally recommend keeping the sunroof closed whenever crossbars or roof mounted accessories are installed. I'd especially avoid opening the moonroof with accessories mounted to the crossbars. Some accessories have mounting hardware that extends below the bars and could interfere with the glass as it opens. Even with just the crossbars installed, you'll likely notice quite a bit of additional wind noise if you open the sunroof.

Tami, I have a 2021 Subaru Forester with a large power moon roof. There is no interference with the Malone bars I installed. The bars are attached to the Forester’s factory rails and are 4” to 5” above the roof and moonroof. I’ve had them for a couple of years hauling 1 or 2 kayaks weekly and they do an excellent job.

The reply from Tom E is spot on for the Malone bars on my 1925 subaru but i use them less often and mine are configured for my flush rails. Quality is good and aluminum is rust free. Wind noise is minimal but not zero.
