Updated 10/20/2026 | Published 10/17/2026

Question:

Im wondering how suspension Part Number: RM-2460-2570 might affect the warranty on my 2025 Grand Design Momentum 31G? It has a 5 year warranty on the frame.

Hey Ted, welcome back! The Roadmaster Comfort Ride Leaf Spring Suspension Kit # RM-2460-2570 is not going to affect the warranty of your 2025 Grand Design Momentum but this is a great question. If anything this will help prevent warranty work since it will smooth out the ride quality quite a bit which will put less stress and strain on the camper. Do you have suspension upgrades already that you've tried?

We just got the trailer in June. I have not done any updates at this point. We just got back from a1,500mile trip that was our first with two ATV's in the back. It was a total nightmare. The sway, especially with a little wind was close to being totally out of control above 60mph. One ATV was as far forward as it could be and the other was a couple feet from the very rear. I had weighed the tongue weight before loading water and ATV's, with a jack scale that I got from etrailer. It showed 1400lbs on the tongue, but figured the water would offset the ATV's. Long story, but we lost most of the water before we got to our destination and had none before coming back. I weighed the tongue when we got back and found we were at 1150. Dry weight, depending on what sheet you read from the manufacture, is 8600-9700. since we have solar options and other, I suspect we're closer to the 9700. Add in the weight of the ATV's, food and other essentials, we're probably at, or above 11000. Unfortunately, I believe the tongue weight is to light, but can't structurally change that. I had put a similar suspension system to the Roadmaster Comfort Ride on our old trailer and noticed (which makes sense) that when I hauled the ATV's that the rear tires seemed to be hauling more weight due to the fact that the tires ran warmer. So, I'm thinking that putting that suspension on our new trailer, it might respond the same way, causing it to also put more weight on the tongue. I do have a top end equalizer already, so that isn't part of the problem. I have hauled trailers for more than 50 years, most were not travel trailers, so I'm not new to the game. I have hauled more different trailers than you can imagine. Up until now, the worst one to haul had the axles centered under the deck, and this new trailer acts exactly the same. I ended up moving the axles on that trailer to the 40/60% location and it was an easy haul after that. Moving axles on this isn't something I'm interested in doing. So, I'm looking at options that will make this work. If I can't haul my ATV's in this, it is useless to me.

@TedH Can you try lowering the nose of the trailer a bit to get a little more tongue weight and reduce the sway. The comfort ride system is great and since it' doesn't use an equalizer it would distribute the weight better but I can't guarantee it would change the tongue weight like you are wanting.

@TedH Hey Ted, I installed this system on our RV this past spring. I will sat it made a huge difference however, our is a fifth wheel so apples to oranges. I know from my own experiences over the years that tag trailers are a totally different animal than a fifth wheel as far as towing experience goes. That is one long trailer. It catches a lot of wind especially on the sides. I don’t know what you’re pulling it with but I would say this is even going to make a 3/4 ton pickup wonky. Then there’s the equalizer hitch. Make sure you have very large bars. Also make sure the hitch is setup correctly. 1400lbs should be plenty of tongue weight but, it will never pull like a fifth wheel. The comfort ride suspension is awesome however I doubt it takes care of your problem. It may help a little but the trailer really needs to be pulled level as without the equalizer the axles are completely independent of each other and if you’re nose high it will put most of the weight on the rear axle. The suspension does make braking more positive and the shocks do stabilize the trailer a lot. I wouldn’t hesitate to install this system but it’s not a magic bullet for all of what you have going on there. Scott

@ScottT Thanks Scott. It’s a long story, but this trailer has turned into a nightmare for us. Yes, my hitch setup is rated well beyond the trailer. I have a Ford SD350 SRW that I have put 22” low profile tires on to reduce flex. I was towing a heavier, shorter by 2’ TH before without issue. It turned out this trailer has the extra 2’ behind the axle, not good. I had a similar suspension to the Roadmaster on my old trailer. I have always tried to haul trailers as level as possible and even took extra steps with that system to make sure it was level. I do appreciate you pointing that out, but I already knew that. I have some options that I’m considering, and by spring I hope to have a solid plan. In hindsight, I would not buy, or recommend, this trailer. And to be blunt, if a manufacturer builds something like this, and advertised it to be used for what I want to use it for, it should be able to be used that way, but it is to dangerous to use it that way the way it is. Again, thanks for your input, it’s appreciated.
