Replacement Water Heater for a Rec Pro Tankless Heater That is Useless
Published 04/06/2026 >
Question:
I have a 2021 Forest River Riverstone Legacy. Someone previously installed a Rec Pro tankless heater in it and it’s useless. Barely makes warm water. Is the Fogatti a direct replacement? I’ve been told the Surburban Neptune is good, but kinda hard to find. Thank you

Hey John welcome back! The Fogatti InstaShower Water Heater item # FG44VR itself should fit inside the cutout of your 2021 Forest River Riverstone Legacy but I can't 100% confirm. It measures 12-3/4" x 12-3/4" at it's widest point which is the same size as the Truma AquaGo Comfort On-Demand water heater that came on your 5th wheel from the factory.
The Fogatti item # FG44VR comes with a 15" x 15" door that has a outer trim ring measuring 17.64" x 17.64". The Rec Pro tankless heaters have options for a 15" x 15" and a 18" x 18" doors so you'll want to take a quick measurement to confirm what size you'll need.
As far as connections go, the Fogatti item # FG44VR will wire up and connect to the water line fittings just like the Rec Pro. It does require a 5/8" flared which is larger compared to the 3/8" flare fitting that the Rec Pro and Truma AquaGo uses. You'll most likely need a brass reducing union adapter you'll be able to pick up at a local hardware store.
We do not carry Suburban water heaters so I can not offer any guidance on how to find one.
Is your main concern the temperature or are you taking showers and running the dishwasher, washing machine, or sink at the same time?

Just wanted hot water for appliances 1 at a time. The RecPro won’t even do that. It warms up to about 80 degrees the goes colder and just fluctuates
