We offer two varieties of trailer hitch receivers for use on RVs, the bolt-on 4 x 4 inch-bumper-mount type such as the Ultra-Fab 2-Inch Motor Home Trailer Hitch Receiver # UF35-946401 that you referenced, and the higher-capacity multi-fit frame-mount type like the Curt # C13701. I suggest you check your RV owner's manual for any guidance or restrictions regarding the use of bumper- or frame-mount hitches and accessories. For safety and capacity I suggest a frame-mount hitch for your application.

The potential concern with using a hitch-mount cargo carrier on your RV is that the rear of the carrier could come into contact with the ground when the RV is climbing out of a sharp dip in the road. The back of the RV will be closer to the ground at such times, and the cargo carrier will extend even further back.

For this reason I suggest a cargo carrier with an angled shank, such as the Curt # C18152 that offers 2-1/2-inches of rise, or the Curt # C18110 that offer 3-3/4-inches of rise.

You will need to ensure that the combined weight of the carrier you choose plus that of the generator does not exceed the limits of the hitch you install.

There are hitch adapters that can provide additional rise, such as the Curt # D-192, but it is important to note that all such adapters have the unavoidable side-effect of reducing your hitch capacity by 50-percent. This solution can be used only if the total carrier/generator weight remains within the reduced hitch capacity.
