Does the TireMinder Bluetooth Receiver Need to Stay On While Driving?

Question:
I have a question about the Tireminder system TPMS-APP-4. Does the bluetooth receiver need to be on and active all the time or just when you are setting up the sensors? Id prefer to not have another device cluttering up my dash area and was planning to use only my iPhone as the display?

Hey Roger, thanks for reaching out, and good question. For the TireMinder Smart TPMS for RVs # TPMS-APP-4, the Bluetooth receiver does need to be turned on while you’re driving, not just during setup. The tire sensors transmit on 433 MHz, and the receiver is what picks up that signal and converts it to Bluetooth for your iPhone. Without the receiver powered on, the phone cannot receive pressure or temperature information from the sensors.
The good news is you do not need to mount the receiver on your dash or use it as a display. Your iPhone can be your only display. TireMinder says the receiver can be placed elsewhere in the RV or tow vehicle as long as it stays within Bluetooth range and is not enclosed in metal. Its internal battery lasts roughly 2-4 weeks per charge, so you can tuck it somewhere out of the way and leave it on while traveling.
Do you have a spot in mind for mounting the receiver to keep it out of the way?

Echo what Jesse said. You get your values from the sensors to your phone via the receiver. I’ve got mine mounted inside one of the propane tank compartments and hard wired to a voltage source. In my situation, I send the values being transmitted to my phone to the factory screen via Bluetooth for real time monitoring. Thanks.
