Will Curt Rebellion Adjustable Shock Absorbing Ball Mount Work With E38FV Anti Rattle On Trail Boss?

Updated 09/28/2026 | Published 09/27/2026

Question:

New purchase of a 2026 trailboss 1500. Need a hitch of 4-5 inches, would like cushioning. Boat GVWR is 4000 lbs. Not quite sure the , probably changes if going on a week trip or a quick hop down to the local lake in terms of bed and boat additional weight. I see Curt Rebellion 15K C83WR looks like a good solution, but curious about hitch rattle. Does it need E38FV anti rattle for the receiver? The non cushioning Curt Adjustable C99NR says the shank itself is designed for anti rattle, so that raised the question above on the rebellion version in terms of hitch rattle inside the receiver. Thanks.

Hey Greg!

The Curt Rebellion XD Shock Absorbing Adjustable Ball Mount w/ 2" and 2-5/16" Balls - 15K # C83WR would be a great fit for your 2026 Trail boss 1500 - also, congrats on the new truck! Those are really slick vehicles.

You can certainly add an anti-rattle collar like # e38FV; it will be compatible with that setup. I've tested the collar on several setups, and it definitely helps keep things tight and reduces clunking around in the receiver. That said, the collar is NOT required when using the Rebellion; it is just a nice supplemental part to reduce movement.

The Rebellion itself will do an excellent job of reducing chucking and up/down movement when towing, so you'll have a really solid hitch setup with these parts.

What kind of trailers do you pull? This Rebellion offers up to 6" of drop, but not much rise, so if you happen to need rise then we can explore other options. I doubt you'll have a trailer coupler taller than that truck receiver though, so I don't think that's a concern for you.
