Hi James, that’s a great question. You’re right to look at the material, especially if you’re concerned about how the lug nuts will hold up over time.
I checked with DeeMaxx to make sure we had the right information, and lug nuts # DE55KR are made from 304 stainless steel. This is a commonly used grade for hardware like this because it offers good corrosion resistance against things like rain, road spray, and normal towing conditions. If you’ll be towing in especially harsh conditions, I’d still recommend keeping the threads clean since even stainless hardware benefits from a little maintenance.
Are you mainly concerned about corrosion from saltwater, or will these be seeing salty winter roads too?
