What Crossbars and Cargo Box Will Work With a Thule Compass on a 2024 Toyota 4Runner?

I have the Thule Compass Kayak Roof Rack that I purchased from eTrailer for a Honda CRV. I now own a 2024 Toyota 4Runner with factory crossbars and the clearance is insufficient to mount this rack on the 4Runner properly. I want to mount this kayak rack simultaneously with a cargo box on the roof of the 4Runner. I would like suggestions for new crossbars and a cargo box that would work in this configuration.

Hello Heather,
I am happy to help, but I am going to need a little more information about your setup before I can recommend the right cargo box.
For your 2024 Toyota 4Runner, I would replace the factory crossbars with the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack # TH52ZA. This will give you more clearance for your Thule Compass # TH890000 and more usable crossbar space than your factory setup.
Since you are carrying two kayaks, the Compass will hold them on their sides with one kayak on each side of the upright. How much room those two kayaks take up will depend on their size and shape, so I don't want to guess and recommend a cargo box that ends up being too wide.
Can you load both kayaks onto your Compass the way you normally carry them and measure from the outside edge of one kayak to the outside edge of the other? Send me that measurement and I can figure out how much crossbar space we have left and find a cargo box that will work alongside them.
