Can Victron MultiPlus Be Installed Horizonally?

Question:

Can the Victron MultiPlus Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger - 2,000 Watts - 50 Amps - 12V - UL Listed be mounted horizontal or on its back. It is too long to be mounted vertically in the compartment of my rig. Thanks

Hey Keith!

Yes, the Victron MultiPlus Pure Sine Wave Inverter Charger # VN68ZR is able to be mounted both horizontally and vertically. This inverter is 16" tall, 9-13/16" wide, and 3-15/16" deep and Victron specifies that the installation location needs to be dry, well ventilated, heatproof, and have 10 centimeters of clear space in all directions from the inverter. Are you upgrading or replacing your current inverter and what kind of rig are you installing this in?

Thanks for the reply. We have a 2019 Renegade Vienna. I really don’t need 3000w capacity. A 2000w would be big enough. We have a 1500w Magna but it doesn’t recognize the LiFePo batteries and our microwave is not connected to the inverter. Is there a Victron 2000 watt that can be installed horizontally?

@KeithZ Yes, the Victron MultiPlus # VN69ZR should be a good fit for what you’re describing. It works with 12V lithium batteries and can be mounted horizontally, though Victron does prefer vertical mounting for better cooling. Just keep in mind that even though it’s a 2,000VA unit, its continuous output is 1,600 watts. Since you’re wanting to power the microwave through the inverter, I’d make sure the microwave’s running wattage stays under that.
