Where is Heating Element of Atwood Water Heater GC6AA-10E
Published 09/07/2026 >
Question:
I have a 6-gallong atwood GC6AA-10E water heater ... how do I even get to the heating element to remove it ... I see a black box in the inside of the RV but it is surrounded by the pipes and turn off valves. Do I have to remove that by magic and that is where the heating element is? Before I purchase the heating element I want to make sure I can replace myself. Thanks.

Hey Sandy, yes the black box is where you need to go unfortunately to replace the element of your water heater. Your specific model they made it harder to access for some fun reason.
You might have to move things around to access it or you might even have to partially remove the water heater to get the access needed.
