Best Steering Stabilizer For 1999 Winnebago Minnie Winnie On Ford E450 Chassis
Updated 09/07/2026 | Published 09/03/2026 >
Question:
I have a 1999 Winnebago Minnie Winnie on a Ford E450 chassis. Im experiencing a fair amount of slack in the center of the steering. The alignment shop said there is nothing wrong with the steering components only 60k miles. A RV tech mentioned that a steering stabilizer would most likely help. Doing a Google search I got two different hits on your site but using the model boxes you only show F450 and I know the front end is different. The units that Google gave me: 1 Roadmaster Exact Center Steering Stabilizer w/ Custom Brackets Part Number: RM47MR 2 Roadmaster Reflex RV Steering Stabilizer with Mtg Brackets Part Number: RM-RBK24-RSSC Which would be the best option for my RV? Is there a better choice I didnt find? I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Kevin

Hey Kevin, welcome back! For your 1999 Winnebago Minnie Winnie on the Ford E450 chassis, I recommend the Roadmaster Reflex RV Steering Stabilizer with Mounting Brackets # RM-RBK24-RSSC.
Between the Reflex and Exact Center, I definitely prefer the Reflex. The heavy-duty spring is constantly working to bring the steering back to center, which really helps with the wandering, loose steering feel, and constant corrections that are so common on Class C motorhomes. It also helps fight the steering input you get from crosswinds, passing semis and uneven pavement, making the RV much less tiring to drive.
I also like the Reflex because it is a simpler, proven design and is easier to get dialed in correctly. Since you already had the front end inspected and the steering components checked out, this is exactly the type of situation where I expect the Reflex to make a noticeable improvement.
Do you take your Winnebago on a lot of longer highway trips? Or do you usually stay local?

installed them on three trucks F250 Super Duty they work just fine but I have to get a special adapter for the Fords, QA1 Upper Loop Conversion Kits 9036-203 I believe I picked them up on Summit racing.

This is a very easy item to install. I noticed that it helped on my 2018 motorhome with the e 350 body style.

I installed the Relex two years ago on my Entegra Odessey which rides on the Ford F-450 chassis. Install was easy and took maybe on hour or two. I chose the Reflex versus the Exact Center due to the Exact Center being a bit more complicated after installation as it needs some resetting which can be a bit tedious. After installation, the difference in steering was noticeable providing better control in wind and around semis on the interstate. Just a thought, the Reflex is an excellent start; however, if you are still experiencing issues, e.g., sway, bouncing, etc., you might consider replacing the sway bars (ft. and rear), upgrading the shocks, and adding enhanced springs (Sumo comes to mind due to ease of install), the replacement order is your choice but it’s the order I used in trying to tame the steering and ride characteristics of this chassis. In closing, there’s a ton of internet threads on improving the drive characteristics of the F-350/F-450 chassis used by multiple RV manufactures over the last two, three decades.

I installed this on my Winnebago Ascent (E450). Easy installation took me an hour, and the difference was incredible. Best handling investment I've ever made. Transformed handling at Interstate speeds. Huge difference.
