Will Yakima Backswing Bike Rack Adapter Work with Curt Hitch 2024 Chevy Trax

Updated 09/14/2026 | Published 09/03/2026

Question:

I have a 2024 Chevy Trax that I plan to have the Curt Class III 2inch Hitch Receiver installed. Is this compatible with that?

Hey Lisa, welcome back! Yes the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender part # Y02483 will work in the Curt hitch part # C75VV you plan on installing on your 2024 Chevy Trax. Do you have a bike rack that you are wanting to use with this adapter and hitch?

No. I was planning on installing a cargo rack with ramp for my wheelchair. Is that possible with the Yakima Back Swing Away product?

@LisaP yeah that's fine as long as you are under weight capacity of everything!

@LisaP I use the 2” swing away for a Thule, two bike rack for heavier electric bikes. It works well but you may find it difficult locking it with weight on it. The Thule swing away may be worth looking at. I think it has a better mechanism but is harder to find. I am a tool and die maker so I understand mechanisms

@IanP I wish we still had the Thule swing away adapter.

I use it for my two e-bikes behind my ford bronco. It’s the only way to access entry to the cargo area due to the swing out tailgate. Works great!

Lisa, I think that the Yakima BackSwing will be a great solution to allow hatch access with the wheelchair platform on the hitch receiver. I use the Swing Back to allow unobstructed access to the under-hatch kitchen on our minivan, even with two ebikes (sans batteries) on the rack. The SwingBack is easy to operate and very stable. The top bolt on the SwingBack receiver keeps our bike rack from wobbling. Cam
