Question:
Hi. My electric bike weighs 70 lbs, has 3” wide tires and 20” wheels. It also has fenders over both tires so I need to secure it as a frame mount. My trailer hitch has a 2” receiver and maximum weight rating of 300 lbs. What will work for me? Thanks.

Hi Tim!
We have a bunch of options that will work for you, but I have two below that are my go-to racks for heavy e-bikes with wide-ish tires:
Benton LittleShift Bike Rack for 1 Bike - 2" Hitches - Wheel or Frame Mount # B54VR
Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # HLY84FR
Both of these racks can carry up to 80 pounds per bike, can clamp to the frame of the bike, and can handle wide tires (5" for the Hollywood and 4" for the Benton). But if you will just be carrying one bike, I think the Benton is the better option. It's less feature heavy (it doesn't tilt and things like that), but it's much lighter and would be the one I would go with.
What kind of bike will you be carrying?

I have a Lectric XP4 (with step over frame) and I just secure the top brace down onto the frame of the bike just in front of the seat post. That along with the strap for each wheel has held it steady so for for me. I’ve had it on various roads (city, Interstate, country roads) and no issues yet.

I carry a Yuba Kombi, Long tail cargo bike with one of these. It comes in at around 70 lbs. This trailer is the best thing behind a dedicated e bike trailer and handles my heavy and long bike with no problem. I make it fit a little better by reversing the fork before putting the bike on, but I’m not sure how an E bike would handle that.

I have three different ebikes I use. All are class 1, pedal assist only, ebikes; an Aventon Soltera 2.5, a Velotric T1 ST and a Velotric T1 ST Plus. They all weigh in at about 45 pounds. The Benton bike rack is a very sturdy rack, easy to use. The riser arm clicks as you move it but just hold the button down if the noise is an issue. The tire mounts seems as they would fit 3" tires but mine are only 1-1/4" tires. One of the tire mounts swivels to help with loading. I love that the straps rotate to make it easier to strap down the tires. The Velotric T1 ST does have fenders and I have never had any issues loading it up. Overall, for my uses, it has been a great bike rack.
