Question:
I have a NEMA 6-50 50A-250 V GRDG receptacle in my garage. I would like to use your Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Generator Adapter - 50 Amp Female to 30 Amp Twist Lock Male - 12 Part Number: A10-G30350VP with 30 amp RV extention cord. Would that work?

Hello Bill,
I'm really glad you wrote in.
You are on the right track wanting to use the power you already have in your garage, but the Mighty Cord Adapter # A10-G30350VP is not going to be the one you need. It is made for a 30-amp twist-lock generator outlet, and your NEMA 6-50 is a different 250V connection. You definitely do not want to try adapting that directly to your RV, because sending 240V to RV circuits or appliances that are designed for 120V can damage them.
If you have a regular 120V household outlet in the garage, an easy option is the Mighty Cord RV Power Cord Adapter # A10-1550. This will let you plug your 50-amp RV power cord into a standard household outlet and provide 120V power to both sides of your RV's electrical panel.
The only thing to keep in mind is that you are still limited to the power available from that household circuit. It is great for keeping your batteries charged and running some of the smaller things in the RV, but you will not have the same amount of power you would with a true 50-amp hookup.
Now, if you plan on keeping your RV plugged in at your residence regularly, personally I would have an electrician install a proper 50-amp RV receptacle. You can pick up the correct NEMA 14-50R receptacle at your local hardware or electrical supply store, and then you will have the full power available to your RV without having to mess around with adapters.
Are you mainly wanting to keep the RV plugged in while it is stored at home, or are you planning on using it while it is parked there?
