Question:
I have lithium batteries in our rig. When my RV is stored, I want to maintain the batteries’ SOC at 80-90. I don’t want to disconnect the battery or shore power as I operate a few devices that need power and, therefore, need to be able to charge my batteries from time to time. Do you sell a surge protector that can be monitored remotely AND can be disconnected from shore power remotely by the user. A device like this would allow me to keep my batteries at 80-90 while also allowing me to operate and power the devices I want to keep operating when the rig is in storage. If i had a remote device, I could disconnect from shore power when the batteries are more than 90 full and reconnect when the below 80.

Hello Stuart, thanks for reaching out. We do have surge protectors like the Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector with Bluetooth, WiFi, and Emergency Shut Down - 50 Amp # HU62VR that let you monitor shore power and remotely disconnect or reconnect it, which solves the “turn shore power on and off without being there” part.
What they do not do is monitor battery state of charge. They only see AC power coming in. To keep lithium batteries in that 80–90 percent range, you still need a battery monitor or a programmable inverter/charger that shows SOC and lets you manage charging behavior. Something like the Go Power Touchscreen Battery Monitor Kit # GP68QR would work great for that.
That'll be the cleanest setup - a remote-controlled surge protector for shore power combined with a battery monitor so you can shut power off when SOC is high and turn it back on when it drops.
What kind of RV do you have? It's 50 amp, correct?

Thanks, Jesse. This is helpful. I won’t need the battery monitor as I already have the Victron Cerbo GX so I can easily and remotely review the batteries’ SOC. I am holding off purchasing the surge protector for now as I am looking into whether the Victron system will allow me to cut off charging the batteries above the 80-90% level. I’ll let you know what I learn about all this.
