Question:

I have a 5th wheel that only weighs 6500lbs. Do you have one that would work for around 1350lb pin weight?

Thanks for letting us help Richard. For your application, I'd recommend a MORryde GooseTech designed for trailers under 11,500 lbs, such as # MR57MV. The rubber shear springs used in the GooseTech are optimized for specific trailer weight ranges, so this version will provide the appropriate cushioning and performance for your lighter fifth wheel. The mounting bolt pattern is also specific to the pin box model currently installed on your fifth wheel. To make sure I recommend the correct GooseTech, you can email me a photo of the identification sticker on your existing pin box. This is typically a white sticker located on one of the pin box wings and should list the part and serial numbers.

You'll also want to add the Safety Chains for MORryde GooseTech # MR23MV, since safety chains are required when towing with a gooseneck-style connection.

Are you replacing an existing fifth-wheel hitch? If so, does your truck have the factory OEM puck system in the bed?

Thanks Chris, My pin box was made by Superior Metal products Ltd out of Penticton,BC Part#45316V ADJ 10,000lbs gvwr Width of pin box 12" On the side the horizontal holes are 9.5" apart. Vertical is 2" I'm thinking that holes can be drilled to adapt. Is this correct? Thanks, Rick

@RichardH I've been doing some digging on your pin box and bolt pattern and it most closely resembles a Fabex 700 series which there is not going to be a designated aftermarket gooseneck replacement for. As I'm sure you've realized by now, the gooseneck options are really designed around the common Lippert pin boxes and bolt patterns. Drilling new holes in the wings to accept the aftermarket pin box is not out of the question but a safer option may be to weld new wings onto the fifth wheel.

@Richard We've had good feedback on the Crosswing so far. The one thing we've heard is the hookup style takes some getting used to but I'm sure it's something that just takes repetition. It's definitely much lighter than a standard 5th wheel hitch coming in at around 60 lbs. Are you mainly looking for something that is easier to remove at the end of your trips? Also, what tow vehicle and bed length do you have and do you use in bed rails or do you have the OEM puck system?
