Parts Needed to Install 7-way on 2019 Ford Ranger without Towing Package

Question:

My truck: 2019 Ford Ranger w/o trailer package. / I need the 7 pin set-up for an RV we are contemplating. I see some comments regarding the harness needing special wire connections because Ford omitted on trailer package . Any comment on this?

Hey Steve, we have a 7-way kit that was designed specifically for your 2019 Ford Ranger without the factory tow package with the Curt 7-way part # C56431. This installs pretty easily and does not require any additional wiring to be complete and functional. Does your trailer have brakes?

It will. Tandem axle, brakes on the rear axle I believe.

@SteveP The Tow Pro Link part # RED57AR is the winner. It's the easiest to install and best performing so for me it's a no brainer. It's wireless so you can control it with either the included remote or with your cell phone.

The curt T connection worked great. Mounted it under the receiver. Made my own bracket. Thought the bracket supplied would be a little weak pushing a 7-way plug in. Installation was easy.

@SteveP Sorry about that. I didn't see budget friendly mentioned in the brake controller request. We actually don't have any brake controller install harnesses at this time for the 2019 Ranger because we lost Tekonsha and Curt doesn't have any.

This is what I used on my 2019 ranger. It was very easy to install. It was actually just unplug the wiring harness on the drivers side frame behind the rear axle. And plug in both ends of the new harness. Then tie wrap the excess wire to the frame. Everything worked perfectly. I did also by the outlet that goes into the bumper like the original outlet on the bigger Ford trucks. There is an outline in the rubber cover of the bumper. Now my truck looks like OEM Ford 7way receptacle.
