Which Supplemental Braking System Should I Used For My 2026 Jeep Wrangler Sahara?

Updated 08/20/2026 | Published 08/14/2026

Question:

We have a 2026 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4 door with Blue Ox Baseplate. Thought about going with the Demco Stay an Play Duo because we have it on our 2018 Equinox so they would match but have had people tell me brakes will come on with using exhaust brake so I should go with Air Force 1 system. Guess I need ylur opinion and price installed. We are in Mt Vernon Illinois. Thank you. Bill

Hey Bill, thanks for reaching out. If your motorhome has air brakes, I recommend the Demco Air Force One # DM26VR for your 2026 Wrangler. The concern you heard about the Stay-IN-Play DUO # SM99251 and the exhaust brake is legitimate. The DUO looks for the coach's brake light signal plus deceleration before applying the Jeep's brakes. On a diesel coach where the exhaust brake activates the brake lights, you can end up applying the Jeep's brakes while using the exhaust brake on a long downhill grade. That is not something I want happening unnecessarily.

The Air Force One is built specifically for an air-brake coach and is the better setup here. It uses the coach's actual air brake pressure to proportionally apply the Wrangler's brakes, so using the exhaust brake by itself does not apply the Jeep's brakes. You still get the same nice permanent installation where there is very little to mess with each time you hook up. If your coach has hydraulic brakes, then I recommend the Stay-IN-Play DUO. For air brakes with an exhaust brake, I am going Air Force One all day.

Are you needing any other parts for your flat tow setup?
