RVS-771 Backup Camera Keeps Moving in the Mount

Updated 08/17/2026 | Published 08/11/2026

Question:

Good morning, I hope this email finds you well. Overall I have been really happy with my RVS-771. However, a little over a month ago, the camera began shifting and the right threaded hole seems stripped. I have meant to reach out, but I was wondering if there is anything that can be done about that. I have only used a small included Allen key to tighten it. I look forward to hearing from you and appreciate any help you can provide. Best regards,

Hey Cole, thanks for reaching out. If the threaded mounting hole in the # RVS-771 camera housing itself is stripped, that explains why the camera keeps shifting. If it's just the bracket that is stripped, RVS does offer a replacement bracket for the # RVS-771 camera that you can use.

If the stripped threads are actually in the camera housing rather than the bracket, replacing the bracket alone will not fix it. n that case, I recommend contacting Rear View Safety about warranty coverage before trying to drill, tap, or repair the threads. The RVS-771 carries a 1-year warranty, and since you only used the supplied Allen key, I would definitely give them a chance to take care of it first.
