Question:

Hello, I have a 2025 Rubicon X with factory 2inch lift and 35inch tires. Im looking at towing a 3500 pound trailer and adding the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 Part Number: C63FV. The specs show it can work with a weight distribution hitch. Im wondering what wdh you recommend and if being mounted to a cross member, Rather than the frame rails if the jeep can handle a wdh? Thank you

Thanks for writing in.

For your 2025 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon X, you will want the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13392. The Curt # C63FV is for the EcoDiesel models, and the EcoDiesel was not offered on the 2025 Rubicon X to my knowledge.

For your 3,500 lb trailer, I would go with the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control # BLU36FR. This system is rated for up to 600 lbs of tongue weight, so you will just want to make sure your loaded tongue weight falls within the range of the system.

As for the hitch mounting to the crossmember, you are good to use a weight distribution hitch with the # C13392. Curt designed and rated this hitch for use with weight distribution, so the crossmember mounting isn't something you need to worry about. You will still want to make sure you stay within the towing and tongue weight limits of your Jeep.

The one thing I would want to double-check is how much drop you need since you have the factory 2" lift and 35" tires. With the Jeep and trailer on level ground and the trailer leveled, can you measure from the ground to the top inside edge of the hitch receiver and then from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler? That will tell us how much drop you need and whether the shank included with the # BLU36FR will work for your setup. Please comment what measurements you come up with so I can confirm the drop.
