Question:
I just ordered a Dutton Lainson 2500 Part Number: DL14830 winch and bought the 2 inch strap on a previous order. Does it come with the bolt to attach the strap to the winch? I couldn’t find any reference.

Hi Craig!
The Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch - TUFFPLATE Finish - 2 Speed - Direct Drive - 2,500 lbs # DL14830 comes with the bolts and clamps to attach a wire rope/cable, but it does not include the bolt for a strap, unfortunately. This is due to straps typically coming with the bolt they need for attachment (see part # DL24250 as an example). The BoatBuckle Boat Winch Strap with Latch-Lok Hook - Loop End - 2" x 20' - 4,000 lbs # IMF17741 you purchased recently does not include this bolt for some reason, so this is going to be a little more difficult. I'm pretty sure it reuses the bolt from the previous strap, but that's kind of a moot point in this case.
With that being said, you will need to grab a 3/8" x 3 1/4" Grade 5 bolt and a 3/8" Nylok style nut to get the strap firmly attached. We don't have these, but they should be pretty inexpensive at any hardware store. I would also try to find a bolt that isn't threaded all the way to the head. If all you can find are those, you may want to find a plastic sheath that will fit over the bolt to protect the strap (threads can tear the straps up).
What are you going to be using this winch for once you get it up and running?

Ok. Thanks for the information. This will be for my boat but the previous one is rusted and needs to be replaced. I was also surprised that the strap did not come with one.
