Should I Choose the BulletProof MD206 or MD256 for My 2018 Ram Power Wagon?

Updated 08/04/2026 | Published 07/29/2026

Question:

what is the difference between BulletProof Hitches 2-Ball Mount for 2 Hitch - 8-1/4 , 8-3/4 Rise - 14,000 lbs Part Number: MD206 and BulletProof Hitches 2-Ball Mount for 2-1/2 Hitch - 8-1/4 , 8-1/2 Rise - 14K Part Number: MD256 besides the rise? I have a 2018 Ram 4x4 6.4 Hemi power wagon, with a 2 1/2 rcvr and height from ground to inside top of rcvr around 25. Any trailer I intend to pull is going to be a uhaul flat bed and/or a homedepot flat bed ... for now ... maybe in the future a horse trailer and an RV. Thank you for helping. tony

Hello Tony,

Welcome to etrailer, I'm glad you found us!!

Since your 2018 Ram Power Wagon has a 2-1/2" receiver, you will want the BulletProof Hitches 2-Ball Mount for a 2-1/2" Hitch # MD256. The # MD206 is designed for a 2" receiver, so it would require a reducer sleeve to fit your truck.

One of the nice things about going with the # MD256 is that the 2-1/2" shank fits your receiver directly. That eliminates the extra play you can get when using a reducer sleeve, giving you a more solid connection between the truck and hitch.

The other difference is the receiver size itself. The slight difference in rise between the two models is simply because the 2-1/2" version uses a larger shank. With your receiver measuring about 25" from the ground to the inside top of the receiver, the adjustment range on the # MD256 will give you plenty of flexibility to level the U-Haul and Home Depot trailers you're planning to tow now, while also giving you room to adjust for a horse trailer or RV down the road.

Do you already have the horses? I showed a little Western as a kid, would love to have my own one day!
