What Can I Use to Raise My 1 1/4" Hitch Receiver to Tow a Small Trailer?

Question:

I have a 1 1/4 hitch that sits about 8- 9 inches too low on a 2016 Harley Triglide to hook up to my Ultra Tow Tag Along trailer. Is there any risers that I can get to level out the trailer when hooked up to the trike. Measurements were taken from ground to top of trailer reciever and from ground to top of ball. If you need any more information please let me know.

Hi Michael,

We only have a few adapters that go from 1 1/4" to 2" and have a rise to help raise the trailer's connection. The Brophy Hitch Adapter 1-1/4" to 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver part # HT5R has a 5 1/2" rise and extends the hitch receiver tube out 7 inches while adapting it from 1 1/4" to 2" to work with your Tag Along Trailer. It's rated for 300lbs of tongue weight, but using an adapter reduces your hitch tongue weight 50%. For example, if your hitch were rated for 400lbs of tongue weight it would be reduced to 200lbs even though the adapter is rated for 300lbs. Your tow set up will always be limited by the weakest component in your system. Even though this adapter only has 5 1/2" of rise, it is the highest rise for a 1 1/4" to 2" hitch that we offer. So, it'll reduce your drop by half, and you'll want to check to see how level your trailer would be while towing.

What do you tow with your Tag Along trailer behind your Harley Triglide?
