Gen-Y Nomad vs Executive Gooseneck Pin Box for Lippert Turning Point

Updated 08/22/2026 | Published 07/27/2026

Question:

I'm looking to get rid of the Turning Point on my fifth wheel and switch over to my truck's gooseneck ball. I see the Gen-Y Nomad GY96EQ and the GY48GR both fit the Turning Point. Is there a reason I should spend more for the cushioned one?

Hey Caleb! If you're mainly looking for a simple way to switch from the Turning Point to a gooseneck connection, I'd go with the Gen-Y Nomad # GY96EQ. It gives you the same basic setup without paying extra for cushioning you may not feel like you need. This is the kind of option that is perfect for occasional towing.

If ride quality is a bigger priority, I'd step it up to the Gen-Y # GY48GR. It uses rubber torsion components to absorb road shock and help reduce the bounce and chucking transferred between your truck and fifth wheel. This is really helpful if you do a lot of long-distance towing or regularly travel on rough roads. Make sure you pick up safety chains # GY49GR as well, they're needed for both pin boxes.

What kind of truck do you have and what 5th wheel are you towing?
