Good afternoon, I screwed up when trying to install new bearings on my Malone mega sport and need a new hub. I am fairly certain that the spindle is 1 1/16in. Do you know what hub I would need, preferably one that is prepackaged. Thank you, Justin

Hi Justin,

Thanks for reaching out. I did some digging on your Malone MegaSport trailer, and it appears all models use a straight 1-1/16-inch spindle. For a replacement hub, I'd recommend the Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 2,000-lb Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKIHUB-545-2-G-2K. The galvanized finish makes it an excellent choice for marine applications.

This hub includes:

Pre-installed bearing races
Inner and outer L44649 bearings
A 10-9 grease seal, which matches the dimensions of your spindle

While the races are already installed, the hub does not come pre-greased, so you'll need to pack the bearings and assemble the hub before installation. We do not carry a pre greased hub that use the bearings and seal you need.

If you need grease, I'd recommend Mystik JT-6 High Performance Synthetic Grease - 1 lb Can # L74FR. It's an excellent marine-grade grease that provides outstanding water resistance and bearing protection.

Out of curiosity, what type of waterways do you usually paddle—lakes, rivers, or coastal waters?
