Lock For Ball Mount On 2" Receiver

Updated 07/19/2026 | Published 07/18/2026

Question:

Hi. My receiver hitch with 2” ball on my truck does not have a coupler to use a lock on so is there anything you have that I could use to lock the hitch/pin so I don’t have to remove the hitch when shopping. Thanks

Hey Julie! If you want to leave the ball mount installed on your truck you can use a locking hitch pin to keep it secure. I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitch # e98882.

This is designed to fit your 2" receiver and will replace the standard hitch pin. It also has a stainless steel construction making it extra-durable and rust-resistant.

What do you typically tow with your truck?

I use the lock pin that experts are mentioning on previous comments. That will solve your problem.

Yes, I agree with customer Fernando and Robin from Etrailer. The locking hitch pin is made out of stainless steel, very easy to use and will keep your hitch secure without having to remove it.

It's an excellent piece of P-U hitch gear. It doesn't rust over time and the locking mechinism works easily, as long it is periodically lubed. I've been towing boats and other trailers, for over50 years, and this one is probably the best one I've owned; over the last decade. I am also around salty environments a lot, not to mention de-icer on snowy roads etc.. Barry
