High Weight Rated Trailer Hitch Recommendation for 2006 Chevy Suburban 2500

Updated 07/15/2026 | Published 07/13/2026

Question:

@JamesonC I have a 2006 Suburban 2500. The Curt C15324 hitch you have available only uses the 3 bolts at the rear of the frame rails. I'm looking for the longer hitch that secures approximately 30" back to the frame.

Hey Todd, while the Curt hitch part # C15324 does only attach with three bolt holes on either side it is a very high weight rated hitch that would work great. It is rated to tow up to a 16,000 lb trailer. What are you planning on towing?

I've been towing my 30' Vortex tou hauler for the last 10 years with weight disttibution bars, but recently I had the rear portion of the frame bend after having to brake harshly at the bottom of a steep grade. If you google Suburban 2500 bent frame you will understand why the Curt hitch isn't my solution.

I was concerned about the short reach into the frame of the Curt receiver, so replaced it with a long reach style Drawtite 2.5". I am very happy with my choice, though I would rather stay with the 2" instead of having to use adapters.
