Parts Needed to Install Tekonsha Brake Controller in 2017 Toyota Tacoma in 2026

Question:

Can you help with me purchase the correct dedicated wire harness for my Tekonsha brake control N26802 for my 2017 Toyota Tacoma ? I just bought this truck. I’d appreciate whatever help you can give me. Thanks Dave

Hey David, we can help but since Tekonsha is no longer in business we can't get their brake controller install harnesses so you would have to modify a different brand harness like the Redarc # RED99FR. What you would need to do is cut off the end that normally connects to the brake controller, wire it by color to your current controller, and then plug in to your 2017 Toyota Tacoma.

Thank you, You guys are great. But I did end up not buying the travel trailer we’re going to look for something else. Thought it may be too big for my truck so I’m sure you’ll be hearing from me again… well maybe or I will definitely be buying something from your website. Thanks so much Dave

Not sure what you have or what you want to spend but I purchased the Redarc controller and wiring harness for my 2022 Tacoma and glad I did. Easy install, out of sight and the control knob looks like Toyota installed from the factory. I highly recommend these if you looking for a factory look. There’s nothing sticking out and in the way for my knees to hit like on my Dodge Ram.
