Best Load Leveling Kit for 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500

Updated 07/08/2026 | Published 06/30/2026

Question:

2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 with newly installed truck camper dealer installed helper springs above leaf springs to help the truck carry the load. The truck leans about an inch down on the driver side. That is the side with most of the camper weight. Would the timbren help level the load, or is their a better solution? One timbren is about 1/2 inch from touching the axle and the other about 7/8 of an inch. Attached is a photo showing the springs attached by dealer and timbren on drivers side taken from the back facing front.

Hey Ken,

Instead of going with bump stops like Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TGMRCK15S, I'd recommend going with airbags for better load-leveling. The advantage here is that you can increase the individual air bags by 1 PSI in order to get a completely level fit, instead of being stuck with the static height of a bump stop. For your 2013 Chevy Silverado, you can go with Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57204, but this package does not fit trucks with an 8' bed. If your truck has an 8' bed, instead you can go with Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57211. Bump stops are good, but these heavy duty air bag kits are great. They will include all the mounting hardware specific to your truck and will support loads of up to 5,000 lbs and can always be deflated when not in use to give your truck a better ride.

What kind of camper are you putting on your truck? How often do you plan on using this?

The Timbrens work great. I got e trailers spacer kit and put in the 1” spacer so the timbrens sit right on the axle the gap was causing a bump on some rough roads. It makes the ride stiffer but it’s ready when I need to pull my dump trailer. Since you are having unequal weight I think Jerry’s recommendation of air bags would be best that way you can adjust each side.

@Sidney thanks for your review and sharing your experience! What kind of truck did you install your Timbrens on? How heavy is your dump trailer?
