What RV Antennas Have a Rubber Mast/Mount?

Updated 06/29/2026 | Published 06/19/2026

Question:

I would like a radio antenna like your AN110, but that mounts to the surface with a watertight clamping action like a car antenna, not a separate bracket. Do you have something like this? Thanks.

Hi Jim,

From what you're describing it sounds like you want something with a rubber gasket for waterproofing like that they have on cars. We have two antennas with that option, but they are significantly shorter than the AN110 you were looking at. The AN110 installs using a bracket due to its height and retractability, which is why these other antennas are shorter due to how they mount and the fact that they're not retractable. I will list them out below for you to take a look at:

- Jensen Antenna - Top or Side Mount w/Rubber Mast part # 44US01R, 8' 3" long cable and antenna is 2 3/4" diameter x 16 1/2" tall

- Jensen Antenna - Top or Side Mount - Rubber Mast part # JAN139, antenna is 6" long and covered in rubber, also has a rubber gasket for watertight mounting, and cable is 42 3/4" long without the plug and 44 3/4" long with the plug.

What are you mounting this antenna to?

Thank you for the information Claire. I ordered one of the AN110 antennas to experiment with. I would like to receive FM radio in our small camper. The underneath space is a closet, which isn't an issue, but that the camper shell is fiberglass is. For a single vertical element antenna to work, it needs something to act as the missing half of the antenna (All antennas have two parts). In the case of cars or metal shell campers, that metal shell provides a "ground plane" as the missing antenna part. I have to see if the metal shell of our awning is large enough to provide a ground plane. If yes, I can figure our how to mount the antenna, even if that means making a mounting piece. Thanks again. Jim

@JimS Ah ok, thank you for explaining more, that makes sense now for what you're looking to do with the antenna. I hope your experiment works out for you!

Hi Claire, Update on the antenna quest: I bought the AN110 pull up antenna that we discussed earlier. It fits physically into our small camper and so was a good choice. The camper is a Scamp and made with a fiberglass shell. That means that there is no ground plane for a single leg antenna like this one as there would be with a metal shell trailer or car body. However the eight-foot wide awning has an aluminum case and is inches from the installation placement and can be jumpered to the antenna base. Our camper is set up to stay off electric power support and has a sophisticated battery system. Automobile antennas that extend and retract as the radio is turned on and off draw power continuously while extended and so would be a poor choice for us. Therefore this antenna with its manual operation is ideal. Again, thanks for your support Claire. Best, JIm Sammons
