Roof Rack With Three Crossbars For 2026 Honda Pilot

Updated 06/18/2026 | Published 06/16/2026

Question:

I have a new 2026 honda pilot sport with sun roof. Can I purchase three horizontal roof rack bars? Three Bars would give me maximum flexibility and I can avoid getting a roof basket type arrangement. I was thinking of getting the Yakima timberline product but not sure what the length of the third bar be? Will it interfere with the sun roof? Many thanks, Pat

Hey Pat! You can add a roof rack with 3 crossbars to your 2026 Honda Pilot. The Yakima TimberLine Roof Rack for Raised Rails # Y42GD would be a great choice. The JetStream bars are extremely quiet, which you'll want with three up there. This will give you two sets of feet and two crossbars. Then you will also need # 8880649 along with # Y82TR for the third crossbar.

The tracks underneath the JetStream bars for mounting run the full length, so if there is some variation in the spacing on your rails that won't be an issue for installation. Everything will look uniform across the top with all 60" bars. We were able to open the sunroof on a 2024 Honda Pilot, so I expect the same with yours since it also has raised rails for extra clearance. See the attached photo.

What will you be carrying on the roof rack?

Robin: thanks so much but I made an error in the model of roof bars. I wanted the Timberline FX model. The ends are flush and look more contoured to the car Suggestions Pat

@PatN I can't say for sure what crossbar size would work with those, if any, for the third crossbar. The spacing changes as you move along the rails and that information isn't listed. Yakima doesn't have fitment information for that configuration either. The # Y87UV uses a 49-1/2" bar and a 45-1/2" bar and since it's the flush design the size really matters. You completely avoid this if you use the crossbars with the overhang, which is probably the best solution here.

@Robin IF I GET ONE SET (FRONT AND BACK TIMBERLINE FX CROSSBARS) , CAN I BUY EITHER A FRONT OR BACK ADDITIONAL CROSSBAR? HERE IS MY PLAN. I GET A SET FROM YOU, I REALIZE THE FRONT AND BACK ARE DIFFERENT LENGTHS, ONCE I HAVE INSTALLED THE FRONT AND BACK BARS I CAN DETERMINE WHAT THIRD BAR I SHOULD ORDER. I WILL HAVE A FRONT AND BACK BAR ON STIE TO EXPERIMENT WITH SPACING AND PLACEMENT. BASICALLY CAN I BUY AN ADDITIONAL CROSSBAR AND SPECIFY FRONT OR BACK ONCE I SEE WHERE I WANT THE BAR? HOIW DOES THAT SOUND? (I REALLY WANT THE FLUSH MOUNT ON THE RAISED RAILS) PAT

@PatrickN yes, they are available separately # Y25TR and # Y85TR. You can try that and see what fits, and I understand you really want the flush mount, but I'm fairly certain with the way they angle there won't be an exact match which is why I have been steering you toward the other system. You could certainly look through the installation instructions and see where those would mount, they're linked further down on this page. Then see what the spacing is somewhere in the middle. That would give you a better idea if it is possible or not.

Robin: How about If I get three roof racks but get the Rhino brand RRRSB03B Rhino-Rack Vortex StealthBar Crossbar - Raised Side Rails - Aluminum - 33" Long - Black But it doesn't seem that 33" would be the right length? What sized do I get to fit my 2026 Honda pilot sport? Will one size fit all? Pat

@PatN all of the flush bar designs are incredibly specific on the spacing. Nothing from Rhino-Rack is confirmed to fit your Honda Pilot. Considering the fact that the shorter of the two Yakima bars is more than 10" longer that definitely won't work. The crossbars have to be the right length based on the spacing of your raised rails. Since Yakima uses two different bars, we know that the spacing isn't uniform, it tapers in/out as the rails run along the vehicle.
