2018 Winnebago Fuse 7-Way Connector Has No Power On 12V Charge Pin

Question:

I have a 2018 Winnebago Fuse 23T on a 2017 Ford Chassis. Preparing to tow a dinghy. All lights work from 7 pin connection, but there is no power on the 1 oclock pin on the 7 pin connector on the vehicle. Wires in all of the connectors on the back, all fuses are in place per manual. I need power to keep batrtery charged in towd Honda Fit - pre-wired. Any recommendations to get power to pin? I can send pictures if it helps.

Hey Ivo, thanks for reaching out. If you've already verified the fuses, checked the wiring at the back of the 7-way, and you're still getting no power at the 1 o'clock pin, there's a good chance that circuit was never activated from the factory. It's pretty common on Ford-based motorhomes for the charge line wire to be present all the way to the connector, but not actually connected to a powered source through a relay or fuse upstream.

I'd start by checking for voltage on the charge line wire itself behind the 7-way connector with the engine running. If there's no power there, trace it forward toward the Ford chassis harness. On some coaches, Winnebago leaves the wire capped off or disconnected near the battery compartment or chassis fuse panel because not every owner needs a charge line for towing. Since all of the lighting functions are working, it sounds like the trailer tow circuits are active and the issue is isolated to the 12V auxiliary circuit.

Worst case, it's pretty straightforward to run a dedicated 10- or 12-gauge charge line from the chassis battery to the 7-way through a fuse or circuit breaker. We actually carry a kit specifically for that. You can use the following:

Expert at e trailer is right. Get electrician to check. My experience is different. I turn ambulance in to RV and towing dingy my 23 Grand Cherokee. Have electrician to help me. Good luck
