Recently purchased Malone airflow 2 cross bars for my 4Runner and am looking for an alternative to the Thule square nuts for hullavator mounting.

Hey Rick, welcome back! The older Thule Hullavator 897XT and the current Thule Hullavator item # TH898 cannot be attached to aero bars like your Malone AirFlow2 item # MAL84AR without using the t-slots.
The Thule Hullavator item # TH898 comes with all the necessary parts to attach to t-slots.
To attach the older version of the Thule Hullavator 897XT to the top channel of your AirFlow2 item # MAL84AR you'll need four of each of the the following parts:
Replacement Socket Head Cap Screw - M6 x 30 item # TH919063054
Replacement Square Nut item # 853-7557
Replacement M6 Washer item # 951061254
I attached a screenshot from the original instructions so you can see how these parts are installed in a T-Slot crossbar.
