Question:

I’m trying to replace the cover and mounting hardware for the Atwood GC10A-4E water heater in my 2008 Coachman Chaparrel DS 282. Does this cover come with the mounting hardware?

Hi Adam,

The Replacement Door for Atwood RV Water Heaters, part # AT91385, does not include the mounting hardware. The door itself is a fit for the Atwood GC10A-4E, but the screws and mounting hardware are sold separately.

For the Dometic/Atwood GC10A-4E, the exterior access door frame is typically secured using standard #8 sheet metal screws that are approximately 1 inch long and installed through the pre-drilled holes in the flange around the opening. If your original hardware is missing or damaged, these can generally be sourced locally at a hardware store.

I know it's frustrating when you're replacing a door and discover the hardware isn't included, especially when you're hoping for a simple bolt-on project. The good news is that the AT91385 is the correct replacement door for your water heater, so you should be able to get everything mounted up cleanly once you have the appropriate screws.

What other Chaparral projects are you excited to tackle to make camping a little easier?

How is the door secured to the frame? Is there a hinge or pins? If so do you carry them?

@AdamS You would need 92101 Water Heater Access Door Hardware which we no longer carry but it can still be found out there on the web!

It doesn’t, but it’s available on Amazon.
