Atwood Water Heaters like your G6A-7 # AT96110 does not use an anode rod because the tank is made of plastic. There is no need for it as the tank will not corrode. If you want to use one, you can use the Camco RV Water Heater Anode Rod - Magnesium - 1/2" Diameter x 4-1/2" Long # CAM11553 which will fit your G6A-7.

I just checked my Atwood G6A-7 and it's made of aluminum, but same answer: No anode needed.

If these tanks are made of plastic, why am I getting a sulfur smell for my hot water? Thank you for any help you can provide.

@Randy The tanks are aluminum-clad and the smell of sulfur just means you have some bacteria growing in your tank and that you'll just need to clean the tank out and be good to go again. A chlorine or bleach treatment on your freshwater system would definitely help eliminate the odor. You can also try a de-winterizer like the # CAM40207 if you're wanting something that's already made up and ready to pour in.

You indicate the Atwood G6A-7 is made of plastic so there is no need for an Anode . I had heard this about 5 yrs ago also and accepted it then . I have a 2006 scamp camper , purchased in 2015 . Decided to take anode out today just to do it and see what it looks like . Well , to me it looks like it has done it's job as if it was not in a plastic water heater ?? Sending 2 pictures , 1 of water heater sticker , 1 of Anode I just removed . Could it be that Atwood G6A-7 has/had been steel in the beginning and switched to plastic at some point ? So the Anode rod was shot before I purchased the camper . It appears perhaps MY Scamp is not plastic because this Atwood was made in 2005 . Or am I completely wrong & it's ok to just put this Anode back in ? Thanks for your input , other course on internet have said what you are saying . I have not questioned Atwood . I'd appreciate it if you'd clarify this for me .

@Gene Atwood went out of business over 10 years ago so no need to reach out to them. Our information has always shown the Atwood G6A-7 is made of plastic or in some cases aluminum or aluminum clad. Either way you don't need an Anode Rod because those types of metal don't corrode. You can still install the Camco RV Water Heater Anode Rod item # CAM11553 just for peace of mind. It's not going to hurt anything if you don't need it.

@JesseM Just wanted to send pic of the my water heater sticker Atwood G6A-7 , manufactured in 2005 . And a picture of the Anode I just removed yesterday , it is completely worn down . If they were all made of plastic or aluminum, I was wondering what could have been in the heater to eat the anode that way ???

@Gene I believe mine is aluminum , but I'm trying to find out what could have caused the anode to be completely gone ?
