Question:
Im looking for a front mounted hitch for my 2006 GMC Sierra. Ideally something like a class 4 or better. I plan to use it for a bike rack so need some tongue strength as it will hold four bikes on potentially bumpy roads.

The Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch part # 31108 is a confirmed fit for your 2006 GMC Sierra and will provide a fit for your 2 inch hitch-mounted bike rack. I have included instructions for the proper installation of this front-mounted trailer hitch.
You may find some issues with a front mounted bike rack however. Visibility may be an issue. In addition, the fully-loaded bike rack may block the head lights and/or license plate. Finally, the bikes may block airflow through the grille, causing your Sierra to run hot.
You will also want to be careful to not exceed front axle Gross Weight Rating (GAWR). Consult your owner's manual or specification plate located on driver's door frame for the GAWR. You can also measure the gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of loaded vehicle on a scale.
If you are towing a trailer and have a Class III rear hitch, you may be able to use the Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount, # D210 in the rear hitch of your vehicle. This ball mount has a 350 pound tongue weight capacity receiver on the top where you can add a bike rack. The total tongue weight capacity of the ball mount is 750 pounds. The trailer tongue weight, bike rack, and the bikes will all count against the tongue weight capacity.
I have included a video review of this ball mount for you to check out.
