Question:

I have a Young 2 ebike rack that fit my 2014 Ford Edge previously. I now am looking to install a hitch on a 2026 Hyundai Tucson. How can I be certain the clearance on this hitch will work for the bike rack?

Hi James,

We installed the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C94WR on a 2026 Hyundai Tucson and in the video, they take some measurements of the hitch on the vehicle. It looks like from the ground to the top of the inside of the hitch measures about 15 1/4". Since it's measuring to the inside of the top of the hitch receiver tube that is 2" tall, that would give 13 1/4" from the bottom of the hitch receiver. If the shank of your bike rack has any drop that would need to be deducted from the total clearance. Any additional weight from cargo in the vehicle and weight of the bikes on the rack may also reduce the ground clearance. If you find it to be too low, you can use a hitch adapter like the Yakima FlipFlop High-Low Adapter part # Y64MX with a 2 1/8" rise to help raise the bike rack and 7 1/4" additional extension for more clearance from the bumper. However, any adapter reduces the tongue weight of the hitch by around 50%. The tongue weight of the C94WR is 525lbs, so the weight of your bikes and bike rack would need to be at or below 262.5lbs.

@JamesS I'm sorry but I think some of your message is missing or got jumbled so I'm not quite sure what you're asking for. Are you needing a bike rack or a cargo carrier? And what were you intending on using it for?
