Question:

I was looking at your Swagman XC platform bike rack. It says there is a limit of 51 1/2inch wheelbase. My recumbent is 60. The photos show the crossbar as the width of a VW Jetta which I believe is 60inch or more. Can the wheel hoops be slid all the way to the ends?

The maximum wheelbase for the Swagman XC 2-Bike Platform Style Carrier # S64650 is 51-1/2-inches with the wheel hoops extended to their maximum. This measurement is taken from the wheel hoops' center points. This means it would not be an ideal fit for your recumbent bike's 60-inch wheelbase.

However, we do have an excellent option for you. The Swagman XC-Extended Bike Rack for 2 Recumbent Bikes - Frame Mount # S64650-EXT can handle bike wheelbases up to 69-inches and bikes up to 35-lbs each. This carrier will also fit both 1-1/4- and 2-inch hitches.
