Recommended Furrion Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump to Replace a GE AC on a Trailer

Updated 05/19/2026 | Published 05/17/2026

Question:

We have a 2021 Grand Design Reflection TT which came installed with 2 GE AC units. The main AC unit in the living area has quit working. We are looking to replace it with the Furrion Chill Cube 18k ducted system with heat pump. How will this work with our furnace or does that become obsolete? Would love to have the option to use both.

Hey Kerri, thanks for the information! There's four options to add a ducted Chill Cube with heat pump to your Grand Design. Which one you need is going to depend on what color you want and whether or not you're interested in having a thermostat to control them. I have listed the options below:

With a thermostat - Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump item # FR27TQ in black or item # FR59TQ in white.

Without a thermostat - Furrion Variable Speed Chill Cube RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump item # FR97TQ in black or item # FR67TQ in white.

These systems all include the wireless remote and an air distribution box with the controls built in so if you skip the thermostat you'll still be able to control the system directly.

To retain the use of your furnace, I recommend installing the Dometic Digital Thermostat item # DMC84RR. This works with 2-wire systems and will control the furnace independently. There's been compatibility issues trying to tie in the Furrion thermostats to control furnaces.

Are you wanting a thermostat to control the Chill Cube? If you went with one of the systems that didn't include a thermostat you could keep your setup wired as is and just control the new AC system from the remote or the controls on the air distribution box.

You can add this information, along with any other questions you have, where it says Add Comment.
