13,500 BTU Efficient Air Conditioner Replacement For RV With 30A Hookup

Published 05/13/2026

Question:

My camper has a working furnace, so I don’t need heat from the AC. I just want a clean 13.5K replacement that doesn’t require a huge power circuit. It has 30a hookup shore power. Would the GE high-efficiency unit make sense?

Hey Hana! Yes, the GE Appliances HE # GE44FR makes sense if you just want a cool-only 13,500 Btu rooftop AC and you’re not looking for heat pump features. It’s rated for a 15-amp circuit breaker, which is one of the reasons I’d look at it for a straightforward replacement where you don’t need to step up to a 15K unit.

This is the rooftop AC only, so the interior kit matters. Use # GE56FR if your camper has a ducted ceiling system, or # GE46FR if it’s ductless and blows air right from the ceiling assembly. Since your furnace already handles the heat, this keeps the AC side of the setup focused on cooling. What are you replacing now, Hana?
