Does Brophy Scissor Step Attach to Truck Tailgate
Updated 05/26/2026 | Published 05/12/2026 >
Question:
We’d like to install the Brophy scissor 4 steps on our 2025 F350 Lariat pickup. Our concern is that the tailgate is curved. We’re not sure how that would work? We considered putting a piece of angle iron bracket on our tailgate so we could attach it to a straight edge. What do you think? We really do need so steps for our camper. Thank you. Chris

Hey Chris, normally the Brophy Scissor Steps part # AS24 would attach to the bottom of the camper and not the tailgate. A lot of the time the tailgate of the truck is just totally removed. Where were you planning on attaching them to your tailgate?

We attached under the door of our Lance Camper. I have photo, but can't attach to this reply.

Hey Chris, it sounds like the right step I have done that hooked into top of my tailgate on my pick up works great. Use it that way for years. sincerely Scott.

The steps come with a piece of 90 degree angle aluminum that has two hooks the upper u-bar on the steps attach to. You could use the steps anywhere you can attach that angle piece. In my case, I attached it beneath the door of my camper, as the tailgate is removed with the camper on the truck. Works great, and much sturdier than the steps that came with my camper. I encourage you to look at ALL the pictures associated with this item on the website.

We’d attach it on the top of the tailgate, inside edge. Will that work? Thanks for writing back Chris
