Question:

I have a winnebago vista npf. We tow a 2 door 2023 jeep wrangler. I want to use a dual receiver on the vista with this bike rack. Bikes are e bikes but one is a carbon frame and the other is a regular. Both would be carried without batteries installed and the heaviest bike is 50 lbs. My husband would like this bike rack because he has the carbon frame. Ive also looked at the Yakima onramp lx, but that would have to clamp to his frame. I dont really like the hollywood rv rider. any thoughts

Hey Gail, thanks for all of the information and welcome back! You've done your homework really well and I do agree the Kuat Piston ION E-Bike Platform Rack item # KU89SR is going to be the best option.

The Piston ION item # KU89SR being a wheel mount style means you won't have to worry about frame damage on your carbon bike. Even with the reduced 80 lbs weight capacity of being mounted on your class A it's still strong enough for your 50 lbs e-bike.

For a dual receiver adapter, I recommend the Roadmaster item # RM-077-8. This adapter fits a 2" hitch and has a 10,000 lbs capacity. The Piston ION item # KU89SR will sit 10-1/4" above your tow bar when installed on this adapter.

Please note that using any hitch adapter like the Roadmaster item # RM-077-8 will reduce your motorhome hitch's capacity by 50%. If that weight reduction is too much you can use the Replacement Shank for Gen-Y Adjustable Ball Mount item # 325-GH-305 instead.

I have a Velotric Summit 2 and a Giant carbon mountain bike. I don't know his model. Both are regular frames sizes and yes they both have fenders. I went to view the Piston ion in person at a shop and it can see where you can adjust for fenders and add the strap with the arms. It looked like the bike rack just comes with a regular pin for the hitch, wondering if it should be a threaded pin? Also does it need one of the hitch u shaped stabilizers?

@Gail Thanks for the information! Your two bikes and the fenders are going to be compatible with the Piston ION item # KU89SR arms. The Piston ION item # KU89SR has the FlatlockTM cam system so it does not require a threaded hitch pin. The knob at the back of the shank will be used to tighten a cam plate against the inner wall of the hitch receiver. This expands to lock the rack securely in place after the hitch pin is inserted. It does not need any additional stabilizers.
