Gap At Back Of Spindle And Shoulder After DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit Installation

Updated 04/29/2026 | Published 04/28/2026

Question:

With the bearing fully seated there is a gap on the back of the spindle and the shoulder. Is this acceptable? There is no play and I can see from the inside that the bearing is as far back as it will go. Both inner and outer bearing part numbers match the old ones

Hey Caylan! Are you referring to the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE86AR? Yes, this can be acceptable, but that gap would only be visible before the grease seal is installed. Once the hub is fully assembled, the grease seal covers the inner bearing so you wouldn’t be able to see any gap behind it.

If you’re noticing this during a test fit, a small visible gap can be normal as long as the bearing is fully seated as far back as it will go. Since your bearing part numbers match the originals, and you’re not getting any play after adjustment, everything sounds correct and you’re good to go.

What kind of trailer are you working on?
