Question:

My boat trailer, 1999 Shorelander, does not reliably down on the 2 inch ball. I am interested in repairing/replacing the coupler. The current part is a Dutton-Lainson model 980-2 Class 2 3500 lbs with a max tongue weight of 300 lbs. Do you have any suggestions for how to repair or replace?

I sure do Jamie and welcome back! To repair your Dutton-Lainson model 980-2 coupler, you'll need the Repair Kit for Dutton-Lainson Couplers item # DL13970. This repair kit will replace your entire ball clamp assembly so your coupler will securely attach to your 2" hitch ball.
